The Suffolk County Court Employees Association (SCCEA) was organized and incorporated in 1978 under the leadership of President Thomas F. McGuinness. We are a public service union that represents 102 different court titles including, but not limited to, Senior Court Office Assistants, Court Revenue Assistants, Court Officers (all ranks below Chief), Senior Court Clerks, Court Attorneys, Court Reporters, et al. Our members work in the 1st District Court, Family Court, and Supreme Court in Central Islip, as well as County Court, Surrogates Court, Family Court, and Supreme Court in Riverhead. We also have members working in Lindenhurst (2nd District Court), Huntington (3rd District Court), Hauppauge (4th District Court), Ronkonkoma (5th District Court), and Patchogue (6th District Court).
Since its establishment, the Suffolk County Court Employees Association has been led by six Presidents: Tom McGuiness, Nick Galluzzi, Tom O’Neill, Brian Mischo, Chris Manning, and Bill Dobbins. We are an organization that has had many accomplishments but our most recent accomplishment was our victory in the O’Neill vs. Pfau lawsuit over the reallocation of the Court Officer title. Other unions representing Court Officers did not believe we could win this suit and declined to join us in our fight. Ultimately we were victorious and a great many of our uniformed personnel received a lot of retroactive money covering the years 2004-2014.
